Opening in the early 1960s as a family-run roadside inn, the motel has long served as a reliable stop for travellers passing through Fernie. In those early days, road trips were slower, the highways were quieter, and a clean, welcoming place to rest for the night meant everything. What began as a modest roadside stay quickly became part of the rhythm of travel through the Elk Valley.
Over the decades, generations of guests have checked in — road trippers heading west, skiers chasing fresh powder, workers, families, and adventurers exploring the mountains. While Fernie grew and evolved, the heart of the property remained the same: a practical, comfortable place to land at the end of the day.
Easy Stay Inn & Suites has always focused on comfort, convenience, and reliability. Even during its years as part of a larger hotel chain, its strength came from something deeper, being family-run and locally rooted. The front desk wasn’t just a check-in counter; it was a place for directions, weather updates, restaurant tips, and friendly conversation. The goal was simple: make every stay easy.
Over time, guests returned not for luxury or flash, but for something more meaningful: consistency. Clean rooms. Fair rates. A stay without complication.
Now operating independently, the name Easy Stay reflects what it has always been at its core: reliable, approachable, and easy. Independence allows us to focus even more on what matters — thoughtful improvements, local partnerships, and more personality.
We’re proud of where we started, and we’re excited about where we’re going. While the sign out front may have changed, the foundation hasn’t. We remain a family-run property committed to offering travellers a comfortable, straightforward place to stay in Fernie, just as we have for over sixty years.
